Possible Presentation Programs Better Than Powerpoint

By Tammie Caldwell

Presentations have for so long been executed mostly by means of Microsoft owned PowerPoint. Not until the recent past, did programs better than PowerPoint become available for getting the same job done in a better and a more creative manner.

Prezi: When it comes to nonlinear presentations, Prezi is an excellent web app that comes in handy. Not only is it simple to use, but also comes with an interface that still preserves the traditional slide layout most users are familiar with while giving one the simple tools required for formatting text and doing much more. Being a web app, Prezi offers the flexibility of being able to access an individuals work from any computer, and collaborate with others on the same presentation.

GoAnimate: Just like it is with any filming, hand-animated videos are time-demanding and hard to make. Let alone the expensive equipment required for the task. That is where animation apps come in to the rescue. With GoAnimate, users do not just get similar animation effects, but also realize its a far cheaper and time saving option. This makes GoAnimate perfect for presenting information one would have struggled to explain with a PowerPoint slide deck.

Audio support means the user can also produce his or her own characters with dialog using customized voice recordings. Commercially available voices are also available on the web. Built-in lip sync greatly helps achieve a more realistic and life-like characters. In addition, featured music and sound effects add more excitement to presentations hence capturing the full attention of the audience.

VideoScribe: VideoScribe is behind the Whiteboard animations which have become quite popular across the Web. The original idea behind these animations was to satisfy a small niche. On the contrary, VideoScribe which is behind this style of presentations has earned a huge following which is clearly testifies about the effectiveness whiteboard animations.

Using pre-drawn and pre-animated images which the user puts together, one can create a presentation which ends up into a slick little animation. The result is an on-screen like presentation whereby a real hand sketches the story as the presentation runs.

Since it is simple to use, presentations can be created without struggle and need for dedicating hours to the projects. One simply drags and drops pre-made graphics into the storyboard, and leaves the rest of the job to the software to handle. Within a few minutes, the audience will be enjoying a well done presentation.

Powtoon: With Powtoon, one looks forward to inspire an audience with a great pitch, emotional hooks and a story. With animated characters, one uses a story telling rather than fact telling. Most importantly, with a few modifications a user can create short animated video clips for use during presentations. So with the ease of learning how to use it, this software is a great relief to businesses and individuals in need of creating presentations that are different and engaging.

Google Docs: One of the most obvious advantage is that almost everyone has a Google account these days, hence access to Google Docs! Even though it may not be overwhelmingly far better than PowerPoint, it is has many advantages over it. Let alone being absolutely free, presentations are easily customized with text, images, imported slides and videos. Running on the cloud is also a plus since collaboration is easy on shared documents with other people. Ones presentation can also be downloaded as a PowerPoint file or shared through a link.
