Brief Guide For Flash Files For Nokia And Smartphones In General

By Estelle Larsen

There are basically two types of Flashing which are Full and Partial Flash. Full means rewriting the memory and structure of the operating system of the smartphone to flashable Read Only Memory or ROM. A Partial Flash is simple reprogramming for the phone in order for it to handle a different carrier.

There are different ways to do this for various models and brands of smartphones. So basically, there are flash files for Nokia phones and also from others that you need to download in order to proceed with flashing it. You can look up each model online and have the appropriate files downloaded.

A professional or even a non professional but with adequate knowledge can do this procedure. The non pro usually has done the right research and experiments in order to perform this process properly. This process has a risk for the memory to be deleted as well as the OS, so it is best to get help from the right people. You might get a piece of brick instead.

Flashing is done because some users want their phones to transfer into a different carrier while not having to resort in buying a new one, and also for better customization of apps and the OS, too. Although the advantage is great, this should not be done casually. Follow the instructions to lessen the possibility of a failure.

Determining between CDMA and GSM is a step in finding out if the device is flashable or not. The first one is, which means Code Division Multiple Access which have a sort of hard wired number on the device itself unlike Global Systems for Mobile Communications. These ones have Subscriber Identity Module cards and cannot be flashed at all. Something else you need to know is the Electronic Serial Number to make sure that the device is labeled as not lost or stolen.

Use a USB cord to attach the device to the PC and download the software which is compatible with the specific model. You can find these online and you need to make sure it is the right one in order to prevent the risk of having it damaged because of incompatibility issues. The partial needs to have a CDMA network as the transfer carrier as well.

Uncompress the files you have downloaded and read the instructions carefully and make sure you understood them before carrying on with the procedure. The process will take around fifteen to twenty minutes to finish. Each device has a different setup, so it is quite impossible to provide detailed instructions, but these are just some general ideas.

Update the drivers of the phone and have it checked by the provider and know what you want to do for the phone which is either the Partial or Full Flash since the program will be prompting you with this. Get the MEID and ESN from the labels underneath the battery. The software should also be able to detect the phone allowing it to read it, then provide the unlock codes depending on the carrier.

The last step would be for the program to ask you to Write or proceed to it. The lesser you know the higher the risk in damaging the phone, so it is best to keep yourself informed or hire a professional, or ask a friend who has done this several times already. Also by doing this, the warranty will be gone and to make sure of last things, get the ESN for the next carrier as well.
