IT Support Can Save A Company

By Jessica Long

It does not matter how large or how small a business is, they all need IT support. It could be a one man operation or it could envelope an entire team of people. No matter what the size and scope of the team one thing is for sure, they are needed. A company without such a department might as well not even try to do business.

Computers are great. They have revolutionized business and industry. As a matter of fact, they have changed the way that we live our lives completely. However, no matter how great or how technologically advanced they might be, they do break down occasionally. When this happens if your company does not have someone ready and able to correct the problem and fix the system, then you and your company are in major trouble.

When the systems start to have problems or start to fail they will run into trouble. This would be especially true if the company needs the systems to continue running while repairs are being made. With an inexperienced crew there is no way that they can manage to work something that complicated out. That being the case, you could end up with a system wide crash.

Something on that scale, even for a very small company, can be enough to cripple or in some cases, completely kill the business. Companies have gone out of business for less and if these types of scenarios take place where there is no IT support, it could be the end of the road for everybody who works at the company.

In some cases those people who did not attend college for their technical knowledge end up knowing more about the technology because their learning was not put into a frame set or they were not forced to take a specific route through the experience they gained. So they were able to learn other things that the college trained people could not.

Another drawback to this situation is the teams level of knowledge or understanding about the way the company works and does business. When they arrive to fix the problem they will need to be given certain information by the company in order to familiarize themselves with the company's file system, what they do, and what the computer is essential to.

Again, if the crew was an on-site crew, they would already have this information. They would know how important the system itself was to the business. They would know the file system, they would know the employees, and they would know exactly what happened to the computer, where it belongs in the network and so forth.

There are a lot of benefits to having internal IT support. However, some companies still opt to have off-site teams work with them because it can be a cost savings. If they do not experience too many computer-related issues then it might work out. But all it takes is one really big issue to knock out a whole bunch of data. That data could be very difficult to recover.
